\n\t\t\t\t\t\nMultifocal intraocular lenses are widely implanted in cataract surgeries \u00a0for the pure benefit of spectacle independence. But they are associated with a higher prevalence of visual disturbances (e.g. Glare, and halos) and dysphotopsia symptoms and is a major cause of an unhappy patient.\n\nNeuroadaptation is widely recognised to play an important role in the adaptation to multifocal iol\u2019s.\n\nNeuroadaptation is the neural changes induced by the new type of visual experience. \u00a0It is an important process in the successful outcome of cataract surgery implanted with multifocal intra ocular lenses.\n\nWhen a multifocal lens is implanted, the patient\u2019s brain is subjected to multiple images \u00a0which are variously focussed, from the same eye. There is intraocular rivalry and the brain has to choose one of the many images. Newer neurocircuitry channels have to be \u00a0established. The time frame involved in this process is variable and sometimes it may take more than a year for this process of neuroadaptation.\n\nStatistically, 10% of the patients may never neuro adapt and they are unhappy with their surgical outcome.\n\nAlso there is evidence to suggest the role of frontoparietal lobe, the cingulate gyrus and the caudate nucleus areas of brain to be been involved during the process of neuroadaptation. These areas of the brain are concerned with the process of learning, visual attention, cognitive control and adaptive behaviour.\n\nBynocs has developed a software program based on the theory that brain is neuroplastic at all ages and is amenable to training.\n\nThe program is designed in \u00a0the form of \u00a0interactive games based on the dichoptic principle. The activities result in removing suppression and improving contrast sensitivity along with perceptual training for a faster neuroadaptation.\n\nBynocs also has programmes to detect and treat phorias and vergence anomalies.
